Rohan Sawant

Mr. Rohan Sawant is a highly experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist with more than 15 years of clinical experience across the United Kingdom, India, and East Africa. He currently works as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, where he provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care.

He completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Miraj, followed by specialist ophthalmology training and a DNB in Ophthalmology from the National Board of Examinations. He has also completed internationally recognised ophthalmic qualifications, including FICO, FRCS Glasgow, MRCSEd, FRCOphth, and CertLRS.

During his professional career, Mr. Sawant has worked with reputed ophthalmology centres, including Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Vasan Eye Care, Doctor Eye Institute in Mumbai, and K K Eye Institute in Pune. He also gained international healthcare experience as a Senior Capacity Building Ophthalmologist with Beyond Eye Care in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

After moving to the United Kingdom, he worked at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust as a Specialty Doctor for more than six years. He also served as a Specialist in Ophthalmology  at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust before being appointed as a Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist  and subsequently as a Substantive Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust since August 2025.

His clinical interests include Cataract Surgery with premium IOL options, Oculoplastic Surgery, Ophthalmic Lasers and Comprehensive Ophthalmology. He provides assessment and management for a wide range of eye conditions, including Cataracts, Eyelid malpositions, Dry eyes, Paediatric Ophthalmology assessment, Post Cataract and Glaucoma Lasers, and General Eye problems
